    cotto's p4p ranking

Espn has this guy ranked 8th. He has beaten a lot of great opponents in judah, mosley, clottey and many others. I don't think losing to cement hands and the best fighter in the world means that he is done. I think a win over foreman would put him back into a big ppv fight. But does he deserve to be above bute, a few super six fighters, klitskos and a few other boxers?

above the klitschkos ? definitely. Cotto is already a 2 division champion , and may be a 3 division champion , although , even a decisive win over foreman will not make him #1 at 154.
But at least Cotto fought against fighters his own size which means much more than what the Klitschkos did. Yes , Wladimir has P4P meaningful wins over McCline and Austin , but still , not too many of his opponents were his size.
And in the defense of Cotto it should be mentioned that he was weakened by the 2lbs reduction from his recent usual weighing in weight , and if it had no effect on him , then pacquiao's team would not have demanded the fight being held at a catchweight.
Regarding Bute , Bute was actually KO'd by Andrade in their first fight , so it just makes him 1(1):1(1) against the limited andrade , which doesn't prove him as such a great P4P fighter , and he is actually a big 168 , which doesn't count too much in his favor when considering P4P rankings.

And you already mentioned another fact in Cotto's defense : his loss to plastered wraps.
I think Cotto is a legitimate top 10 P4P fighter still , and will definitely deserve to be so if he beats yuri foreman , especially if decisively.

Great points I think if he beats foreman he should be ranked 7th. Then a fight with martinez or williams which I think he would lose but if victorious he would be a top five fighter again

I think if Cotto beats Yuri Foreman then his management will not want to risk his title against either Williams or Martinez , so if he wins versus foreman , his next fight is either Pacquiao , or an easy title defense/stay-busy fight before a much bigger money fight against Pacquiao. For Pac it will be good option , for it might yield him a title in yet another weight division. So no Williams or Martinez next for Cotto.
If the Pac option somehow manages to disappear , I guess he could rematch either Margachito or Mosley at 154 . Regarding Floyd , Floyd already held a title at 154 , so he will have no new reason to fight Cotto .

It's not that he's lost, it's the punishment he's taken in those fights...

I hear you. But by the same logic, Ricky Hatton should still be in the P4P10 since he only lost to Mayweather and Pacquiao.

Cotto wouldn't make it the distance against Williams.

I agree, Paul is massive, he's campaigned at middleweight. Why are people still considering matching him up against small welters?
