Manny Pacquiao Hospitalized for Mild Stomach Ulcer

Manny Pacquiao, the world welterweight champion who was elected to the Philippines Congress earlier this month, was hospitalized with a severe stomach ulcer, according to The Associated Press.
The ulcer, according to the report, was found during a routine checkup, and Pacquiao's family convinced him to stay in the hospital.
"Really, Manny can only rest if you confine him to a hospital," Jayke Joson, Pacquiao's chief of staff, told The Associated Press, adding Pacquiao was receiving intravenous dextrose drips. "It's been so intense a campaign, he missed some of his meals."
Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, told the AP that he is going forward in working on the scheduling of the much-anticipated bout between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. The fight, which was supposed to happen last year but didn't due to disagreements on blood testing, could take place in October or November.
The report said that Pacquiao could be released from the hospital as early as Monday or Tuesday.
