Lol, relax, I love Robinson, I'm trying to change the subject from the boring Pacman/Floyd fights.

Not really. I've read somewhere that he did it as a favor because Armstrong is in a financial bind or something. And he just carried the fight. Maybe we could ask some boxing gurus on here top confirm.

He fought Armstrong because he had to fight him. Armstrong was past his prime, but he had worked his way back into being the number 1 contender at welterweight, and Robinson had to beat him in order to be recognized as the number 1 himself.

Robinson is said to have carried Armstrong the distance out of respect for him. He looked up to Henry, fought him to help him get a payday, and was happy to have beaten Zivic because Zivic beat Henry. His management was worried about Zivic's lacing and thumbing but Ray wanted to beat him.

Armstrong had declined, but still had beaten some good fighters right before facing Ray. He wasn't the top rated contender for nothing.
