Augustus "not playing or dancing around anymore"

It was sad to watch Emanuel Augustus get beat up this friday. He looked like a shell of himself, he didn't dance or do anything to really get the crowd behind him, he just tried to fight/box. I found an interview he did back in april of this year saying that he's not going to dance or play around in the ring anymore, he's serious and wants to earn a title shot...

I think not dancing and clowning is not the way to go about doing it, he wasn't fun to watch this friday. He just kind of stood there eating shots, and i can't decide if its cause he wasn't moving, and frustrating his opponent, or if he just doesn't have it anymore.

What do you think, I think if the guy wanted to take it seriously, he's about 10 years too late, if he wants to fight, he's got to move and frustrate his opponents...

otherwise he's going to get hurt, and i don't want to see a guy who's entertained me throughout the years get hurt.

In the basic way I did think it was fun to wathc as it was an entertaining fight but...it was sad to see Augustus take that kind of punishment even knowing from the beggining he will get punished like that,he never had a chance to win this fight.
He's obviously done now,he's been fading for a few years now but he's as close to shot as can be right now,a title shot is nowhere near.
The truth is Augustus just kept fighting in hopes of a big HBO payday or some sort of money,he wanted to go out big,he thought he deserved so after the work he put in.Emanuel has been saying he would retire since 2006 but that big money fight just hasn't appeared.
He has no choice but to retire now,I think he slurrs his speech a bit.

He was matched wrong, he shouldn't have fought a rising prospect who's known to have alot of power. Was the fighter he was fighting still learning on the job? Yes, but he is still a tough sob. I don't think Augustus should be fighting powerful fighters right now.

On 5 days notice no less.... I think the guy's warrior instinct will keep him from climbing the rankings at all.

Do we honestly know how much Augustus has left? Didn't he have like a week to prepare? Wasn't he coming off a 9 month layoff?

It was sad watching him get that beating but IMO, he didn't have the stamina.

He took the fight on a 4 day notice and was at 143. Give the guy a break. I bet if you give him an 8 week training camp he'll give any 140 pounder a good fight.

As I said earlier, wrong opponent to choose

Augustus was a good sport though.
