why does weight matter so much in boxing?

Can someone with some knowledge explain how if a guy weighs 175 and fights a guy weighing 170 that will make a difference in the fight....I understand when guys weigh 120 or 130 a couple pounds is a decent percentage of their weight but 160+ weight divisions whats the big deal?

a 5 pound difference isnt even noticeable unless you step on the scales. can you honestly tell if someone is 170 or 175?

          a 5lb difference shouldn't matter really.

Joey Gamache was brutally knocked out by the late Arturo Gatti in a fight where Gatti came into 20 lbs heavier. Good example...
