    Weigh in rules?

Would it be a bad idea to have weigh-ins on fight night, instead of the day before? It would stop guys from cheating their way in, by dehydrating, then rehydrating to gain a 15 lb weight advantage. It's total bull**** that guys are allowed to get away with that, and now, with the most famous of all-- Gatti-- having a tomorrow, it brings the question to full front, I think.

Should weigh-ins be the day of the fight? I think it'd be better.

I don't think they should weigh in on the day of the fight. I do think they should have a rule however that a fighter can only put on a certain amount of pounds during the period before the fight.

no That would be unfair to weigh in on the day of the fight. fighters need time for their bodies to rehydrate.. and it is not CHEATIng to drain yourself.

          Wow, you're ******ed.

I'll bring him up again: Joey Gamache. He has been permanantly damaged because of Gatti's bull****. It's not fair. It doesn't slow you down that much, and it gives you so much more power to make up for it.

There's a major problem with it: THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE 140! How is a guy coming in at 165 vs a guy a bit over 140 (we can't expect them to be right on the dot after a day) not unfair? Why even have weight divisions?

There are a lot of idiots on this forum, but you sir, take the crown as king of the dip****s.

It IS cheating to come in 15+ pounds over the weight limit. Again, why even have weight classes if we're going to allow that? Why don't they get down in weight before, or move up if they have to dehydrate themselves to fight?

they have weight classes so people can fight at the weight they are comfortable and best in. If a guy can make 140 during weigh in that is fine. He has to train extra hard to make the 140 then. If we had weigh ins on the days of the fights there would be no Trinidad or Erik Morales or Corrales or Castillo or Gatti All these guys would be fighitng in a weight that they cant handle if they weighed in the night of the fight

I agree that there should be a rule or some sort of contracted max amount of weight for a fighter to put on by fight night...problem is...if a fighter is too heavy ON fight night...they wouldn't want to cancel the fight while you have 5, 10, 20 thousand screaming fans in their seats with paid tickets

I'm certainly not the only one, and I don't give a damn if you want some e-respect pushed your way. It was my opinion that you're a dip****, expect people to put their opinions in, whether you like it or not. Yeah, it works the same against you too, you hypocritical dolt.

It IS unfair, and I'm sure Joey Gamache has a lot of complaining to do, considering the permanent damage that he suffered because of Gatti coming in above the 160.

I ask again, why even have divisions if you'll allow a fighter to come in to the fight two weight divisions above his opponent? Why not just go back to the days where middleweights fought heavyweights on a regular basis, with the weight disadvantage? It IS cheating, the only reason they aren't stopping it is because they don't have an official weigh-in on fight night.

That's another problem presented, but something should be done. Especially when people are getting seriously injured from it-- injuries that probably wouldn't have occured had the perpetrator not come in at super-middleweight for a super-lightweight fight.
