Angelo Dundee said he told Ali to retire almost 20 fights before his last fight, they already saw signs of brain damage.

The guy didnt care, he loved boxing and knew nothing could replace the spotlight he had while being a fighter. As much as I feel terrible for the guy, he lived the way he wanted to, and there's no shame in that.

They shouldve never let ali climb into the ring, his last 5 or so fights were terrible to watch. Larry holmes said he nearly cried after having to beat a 38 year old ali.

Same thing happened to so many other greats though.

Holmes says that now, but he truly tried to KO Ali, even going as far as hitting ALI when Ali turned his back to avoid punishment!! He wanted more than anything, to knock ALI out.

With how Ali's health turned out, it makes me even more happy that he is remembered in such good light.

That being said, I wonder what it was like for people who looked up to him as a child. With me I'm seeing these as events that have already passed so it's not so hurtful.

i realized that ali was forced to use the rope-a-dope. the first thing to go when a fighter gets old is their legs....he knew it and adjusted. Must be the toughest fighter of all time honestly

The saddest part about this is that Hearns went down the same path as Ali after seeing for himself firsthand how much longterm damage Ali suffered.
