      Hydrocodone = Vicodin (generic)
      If he took it right before the fight (it doesn't stay in your system very long, has a peak rate of about 2-4 hours I believe) then it is most definately cheating.

        I take Hydrocodone for pain all the time. Shouldnt be banned. It gets you ****ed up, and if you tried to box after taking enough to affect you, you would get KTFO.

          Hydrocodone affects people in different ways. Most people seem to get tired and sleepy. It was the opposite for me, it used to make me not able to sleep. I'd be relaxed and feeling good, but not sleepy at all.

          Either way, I don't think it's the type of painkiller to help you in the ring. It's more for what you'd take after a fight.

            Keep in mind that people develop tolerances to drugs. What gets you sleepy as an occasional user might not affect a heavy user in the same way.

              this has nothing to do with advantages for a boxer,it's banned because in the state of nevada there seems to be a problem with the drug,maybe addicted or something i don't know,but i think it's the only reason why it's banned because it's in nevada,this gives no fighter an advantage

                I was on Vicodin when I sparred once. It felt like my hands had bricks on them. They were super heavy.

                    A pain pill that is given to people for headaches and minor pain? Whats the problem? If the drug isn't a stimulant or steroids why does it matter?

                      A fighter taking pain pills before the fight, would not be as effected by the punches being landed on him (not feeling the punches at their full velosity) because opiates block the nerves to the area of the brain that perceives pain. I imagine this would be the real concerns.... So, not only does it help the fighter withstand punches better (because they can't feel the pain like usual), but it then allows them to absorb unneccessary punishment and could potentially cause damage to the brain w/out the brain knowing it until the opiates wear off and the nerves in the receptors kick back in ....
