I really hope Israel Vasquez doesnt fight again

and its not just because he lost or even because he lost badly, because I sort of expected that to happen...Im worried about his cuts. the guy's face gets chopped up at the lightest touch, and its in the same spots where he he was so badly chopped up in his previous fights. and these arent just nicks or abrasions, these are DEEP, bad cuts. the fact that theyre reoccuring in the same area over and over again tells you right away that its a lasting injury already, and its already pretty bad.

Permanent damage has already been done to the skin around that area, and I think he needs to stop fighting in case it starts getting more serious.

besides, the guy has already taken a large amount of punishment in general., I think its time to call it quits.

Hopefully he's managed his finances well and has that option....

I think your right, he is a warrior who had a great career including one of the best series in boxing history.......no need for him to take anymore punishment that is if he is ok with money.

what people sometimes dont realise is that Vasquez's wars didnt start with Marquez...the man has been in extremely demanding fights throughout his career. his first fight with Larios was brutal, as was his fight with Johnny Gonzalez. even early in his career he was having some wars.

I understand that sometimes a fighter has no choice and has to try to keep making money, but Id rather see him poor than seriously hurt. boxing can be reasonably safe, until you start passing your long term limits...and I really think Vasquez has already started passing his.

speaking of Larios, I hope hes out of the game too, hes someone who Im concerned about as well.

I don't think they will allow him to even if he wanted to, his eyes are clearly a safety issue. And I'm not sure he could see well out of his eyes before they were easily busted up. I don't think his vision is as good as it once was.

Funny you say that after you were picking Vasquez to spark him out.

I agree that Vasquez has had a lot of tough fights. But it's not like Marquez went through a bum of the month club at 118 either. Let's give credit where credit is due.

I saw the skin around the eyes at the weigh in and thought wtf was going on he shouldn't go into a fight looking like that.

uhhh I wasnt really angling for that point of view at all, since I think Marquez is the better fighter anyway, lol...

all I was saying was that Vasquez has taken more damage than most people think, thats all.
