He had very well documented eye surgery before this fight, before he had the tune up comeback fight.

Izzy is only 32. Golden Boy should hook him up with a good plastic surgeon to clean him up over his eyes. Then give him a sold year to heal. You then might get a solid couple more fights out of him.

You could tell he is still very strong and has a lot of fight left. It is just the scar tissue holding him back. A good plastic surgeon can clean up the scars and shave the bone down a bit to smooth it out. He could then get some rounds in and if he does cut it should be more manageable.

Iran Barkley had to have the same thing done. It did prolong his career a bit.

It was sad watching izzy. he's still a champ in my eyes. Hes lost a step but was right in the fight with rafa. just his eyes cant take the punishment.

Most definitely, I bet on him but I did not know his facial scarring was so pronounced. He can't take any kind of punch and cuts on command, his career is finished, severe cuts in his last 4 fights...it's a done deal

i'm a big fan of vazquez and there will always be this part of me that wants to see him continue to fight. i don't think he is completely shot.

however, his eyes have taken so much damage, especially from the third fight. i think he should definitely consider retirement at this point.
