  • My 140lb rankings!!!!

    1 Devon Alexander!

Alexander is a good young fighter, fast and agile, and only 23 years of age. Recently Alexander fought two very good fighters, Junior Witter, who is known for being awkward and difficult, and Juan Urango. Alexander posted great stoppage victories over both, proving himself as the top guy, on Merit at 140.

Cons: Smaller than some of the others, defensive liabilities

    2 Victor Ortiz

There may be some arguments here, but I feel Victor is actually the best 140lb'r there is, although his resume is weaker than the others so he can't be ranked 1st. I pretty much think that Ortiz is the total package, he has good speed, some nice power, a solid chin nice size for the weight and more besides.

Cons: has "quit" when things were not going his way, now appears a little too gunshy at times

    3 Amir Khan

Amir Khan is a fighter who has only recently come up to the 140lb weight class, ignoring his win over Salita, lets look at his other two wins.
Andreas Kotelnik is an underrated fighter, he had a very close fight with Marcos Maidana, and his chin proved equal to Maidanas power, he won a olympic silver medal (like Khan) and held the WBA title. Paulie Maglinaggi had held the 140lb IBF title in the past and was a decent fighter, Khan pretty much shut them both out. Khan is tall, rangy, with nice pop and a good trainer.

Cons: Chin has proven weak in the past

    4 Marcos Maidana

Maidana is a slugger with footspeed, there is little flash about his style, he comes at you, he pressures you and he tries to ko you, usually he succeeds. Maidana is exciting to watch, and has gained a big reputation, especially since he beat Victor Ortiz

Cons: pitiful boxing skills compared to the rest, once he loses, he will be "blueprinted"

WHOA. Are these rankings based on skill, or achievement? Doesn't matter. Having Bradley unranked means you just don't like the guy for some reason.

I was hesitant to support Khan because I think he is a racist, but I have warmed up to Khan day by day. I hope he comes out on top!

I see Bradley has upset many fans by sprinting to 147lbs w/ the dreams of landing a May or Pac fight. He has to atleast beat Berto to get there.

            My Rankings:

            1. Bradley
            2. Alexander
            3. Khan
            4. Maidana
            5. Ortiz

The Con: Most of them don't want to fight each other and neither do the promoters want to make the fights.

To be honest what has Kahn really done to prove he is that good?

When he faces a world class fighter with acceptable power for that level of comp I will respect and regard him as world class.

He can't just do this forever against featherfisted opponents for the reason that he has a glass jaw and still be thought of as top shelf material.

He's come up in weight, and beaten a world champion and a former world champion, both ranked top 5 by the ring at the time he fought them and he's shut them both out

I agree he can't do what he's doing forever. GBP are trying to take him to the top methodically but no matter what division he goes to from this point on, there will be competition. And the fans will demand he face the best.

He notorious for having a glass chin and when he fights and beats a top fighter who can expose what is his 1 recognizable flaw I will give him credit. For now he his cherrypicking reagrdless of whether he is talented which he is.
