General public fans dont admire the science and the skill, all they want to see is Knockouts. It amazes me people can sit through a baseball game for like 4 hours and be excited throughout but cant get up for 45 minutes of great boxing action.
I hear ya man. It always amazes me how sports fans don't appreciate the competitive nature of boxing and yet flood to professional team sports in hordes. The competition in professional team sports is convoluted (with a few exceptions). A team in the baseball or the NBA loses... so what? They come back next season. Once you're in the league, you're set until you retire, essentially. It becomes more entertainment than sport. Contrast this with boxing where competition is taken to the extreme. There is so much to lose if you don't win that one big fight--all the contracts/TV time may go out the window. There's so much at stake. Now that's real competition!

I wanted to punch him in the face just on principle alone. I explained to him that any lesser fighters in there would have been KO'd in 10 rounds or less but I think it was falling on deaf ears. He didn't really understand the level at which those guys were fighting that night.

I would have delivered on the knockout on him. People think boxing is brawling and Tyson like antics unfortunately. I watched Castillo-Corrales with a friend he said it was boring as hell except for the 10th round. That really made my blood boil.

By the way, you from Ohio? Which part?

I remember when I was strictly a KO fan.

Yeah I watched Castillo/Corrales with a buddy and he actually liked it. He was all, "are you sure this isn't Rocky vs. Apollo Creed?" Funny stuff...

No I'm not from Ohio. I really need to change my CT...it's just something that an music artist I like says periodically.
