Poonsawat scores 4th round KO Win!

WBA super bantamweight champion Poonsawat Kratingdaenggym (41-1, 29 KOs) scored a fourth round KO over challenger Shoji Kimura (23-4-2, 9 KOs) on Thursday in Maha Sarakham, Thailand. It was the second defense for Poonsawat following his crushing second round KO over Bernard Dunne last September.

His handlers are now eager to expose him to a larger audience. They plan on scheduling a fight in the United States as early as this fall.

I saw an article in the Thai Rath Newspaper that quoted his management saying they were interested in a fight in Las Vegas for September. They said they were in talks with Golden Boy and Bob Arum Top Rank.

Hopefully the details will be worked out and American fans can see this exciting fighter.

The best thing would be for him to sign a co-promotion deal with someone like Top Rank. If he did that he could get a few days on Top Rank Live (Arum has 30-40 dates set aside this year I think) and also Top Rank has alot of fighters he could set him up with as far as match-up as concerned.

Good stuff. He's fought outside of Thailand before, so hopefully he will come here.

I hope he's able to make weight comfortably, he looked at bit drained at the weigh in.

Too bad Escalante moved up. That would've been a good showcase fight for him on ESPN.

I used to think Escalante would beat Poon, but after seeing him go life and death with that guy a few months back (i forget his name, tough Mexican pressure guy), I think Poon ices him.

I think you're talking about his fight with Miguel Roman that was on FNF.

Too bad though, I'm pretty sure Escalante is at 126 now. He's ranked as such in the WBA's rankings.......he's not on them at 122.
