Because he is promoted by top rank and bob arum. All those excuses was just him talking ****, nothing more. Arum said that cotto wasnt ready for mayweather. And arum wasnt offering the right amount of money for him to fight cotto, same reason he didnt fight margarito.

Why did this fight not happen? Cotto just came off the Mosley victory and prior to that was destroying everybody...Floyd just became a huge star with his victories over De La Hoya and Hatton...This would have been a huge fight in May/June of 2008...What happened?

Mayweather would easily beat Cotto then & now....

Arum didn't want to do business with Mayweather. It's no secret that Arum hates Mayweather and vice verse.

Cotto could have made the fight happen but he isn't vocal about his career for ****. He is a puppet and lets Arum dictate what he should do, which is why he got fed to Arum's lion at a ****ty catchweight.

Not just Cotto, Margarito was also at large, as was Paul Williams and Clottey.

Cotto and Margarito are the only legitimate fights that should have happened.

Clottey is was and always will be a B level fighter.

Williams is a poor draw and only known to the Boxing hardcores even in 2010. There was no way that fight was going to happen in 2008 bro. People rag on Mosley's drawing power now, but Williams is a league below.

I honestly don't think he ducked or meant to not ever fight someone like a Cotto at all, but people have to understand the business behind why Floyd and Cotto never fought.

floyd got shafted with the money split for an ODLH rematch.......so he retired........alot of insiders thinkthe retirement was to let boxing "miss him" and in turn this would raise his price once he returned to the sport.

Anyway...cotto is slow and flat footed and has a suspect chin.......i see him giving Floyd some problems given the timing of his left jab.....but to be honest Floyd does everything beter in the ring than Cotto cept punching power.
