Shane Mosley Tricked By Cotto and Mayweather

Shane expected Cotto to slug and he boxed, Shane expected Floyd to box and he slugged. Both times Shane got it wrong, his opponents made adjustments and he didn't. Makes one wonder has Shane always been a 1 dimensional fighter? He doesn't really switch up his attack or his strategy much in any fight.

Cotto, as evidenced by his fight with Mosley, could adjust well in the ring at 1 point in time, he still try's to box when he is hurt but is not nearly as effective doing it as he was with Mosley. (The Clottey and Pac fights for instance)

Whats interesting is judging by Shane's comments before the fight, he thought Floyd would back off, wilt, run, flee when he felt his power and reality is Floyd did just the opposite. Though Naazim said he would turn into a dragon if hit, I dont think Shane really believed Floyd would become the aggressor, like all the Floyd critics, he thought Floyd would "Run", use the ring, go defensive.

In the end Shane ultimately is a B+ fighter, never able to beat the best, very very similar to De La Hoya.

Floyd wasn't slugging with Mosley like Cotto was. Floyd selected his shots more than throwing combination punches which Cotto did.

Floyd was more aggressive, but I wouldn't call it "slugging" per say.

Damn dude you are going to get flamed by some DLH huggers. I agree a bit. But when Shane was younger he bobbed and weaved a bit, slipped punches and fought in combos. His speed and power were enough to aggravate most opponents so he never needed to gain to much boxing ability, though he had some. His dad never made him a complete fighter, he out grew his dad a long time ago.

Shane is just good at fighting come forward brawlers, even against guys who can box a little like Collazo Shane struggled a bit. Against Oscar who can box Shane struggled.

For Floyd that was slugging, yeah he picked his shots, stood his ground, but for a defensive guy like him that was slugging. He threw more power shots with intention to hurt Shane not just score points.

The good thing about Mayweather and Pac is that they don't care if your gonna slug or box.

It's still not considered slugging. Floyd was very accurate and picked his shots. Just because it's Floyd fighting that way against Mosley doesn't constitute it as slugging.

Better definition of slugging would be Marquez vs Pac II and or Gatti vs Ward trilogy.

Do really need a definition of slugging?? Floyd stood his ground, traded punches, dont claim its not slugging just cause he's accurate. All slugging doesn't have to be wild haymakers or power punching with no regard for accuracy.
