if morales gets in better shape can he compete at 140 or 135 at age 33 ?

that is the funny part, certain manny fans?? common the title of the thread dont suggest that, TS was generalizing manny fans as a whole...Funny how this thread has shifted. The TS wasn't talking about if Manny fans respected EM. He (as well as myself) wants to know why is it that certain Manny fans don't give MORALES CREDIT for beating Manny the 1st fight? Why are there all the excuses as to why Manny lost rather than giving Morales his just due.Comment

Ironically it's Floyd fans who discredit Morales by saying he was onld and shot. First of all he wasn't old...only 28 when he fought Manny, and Second he wasn't shot because outside of going above his peak weight and losing, he was on a great run, and IMO could have been undefeated since those Barrera fights could have went either way.
Doesn't matter though, we live in a age that if you lose one fight (in a dominating fashion) you are automatically shot...smhComment

GOOD SAID!Morales is one of the greatest fighters of this era. What are you talking about? I always make the argument in favor of Morales when people bring up the first fight. Morales is one of the greatest fighters of this era, and ATG and had two extremely close losses to Barrera, IMO that could have went either way. He was on a great run and wasn't shot, something to this day I don't get why people say.
I even argue that he wasn't shot in the second fight when Pac beat him and that he only lost to Raheem because 130 was his absolute peak and going above the he gave up too many advantages to a bigger, faster man.
Morales win over Pac is his best win IMO, along with Junior Jones, Barrera 1 (he won that IMO), and Daniel Zaragoza.
No shame in Losing to Morales, because he is a beast, and he wasn't shot in his first or second loss. Full credit to him for beating Manny in that classic first fight.Comment

Age is irrelevant. Morales had been through countless wars. To say a past-prime-fighter had one last great fight left in him doesn't discredit him. But anyone who saw him against Rahim knew he was finished. That was supposed to be a gimme, and you really believe that it was the weight?Ironically it's Floyd fans who discredit Morales by saying he was onld and shot. . A prime Morales could've weighed in at 130, let Rahim weigh 135 and still woulda won. He was fading bad. Then to ask him to come down to a weight he could no longer make? What do you have left? Come on guys, stop being such blind fans and be real for a sec.

yes...nothing about the way he fought gave me the impression he was shot. You don't put on the performances against elite fighters (Pac and Barrera) if you are shot. If Cotto beat Pac and lost a 115-114 decision to Floyd would you say he was shot? Just curious
I just think its cool or trendy now n days to say a guy is shot or past his prime. Now don't get me wrong, he wasn't at his absolute best (weight wise) because I feel 122 and 126 he was a beast, but that doesn't mean he wasn't an elite fighter at 130 (top 3 fighter IMO at that time).Comment

Age doesn't equal prime. I mean, Miguel isn't even 30 and he is past his prime. Tough fights is what break fighters down my dude. I mean, he got totally outclassed by Raheem..you think that would have happened to a PRIME EM?Ironically it's Floyd fans who discredit Morales by saying he was onld and shot. Don't you think there is a reason no Mexican has ever won titles in 4 different divisions? Just like Marquez was real competative at 135 but looks terrible at 140 is the same reason Morales was great at 130 and looked terrible at 135. Morales peak was 130 (competitive wise) just like Marquez peak is 135 (competitve wise).Age is irrelevant. Morales had been through countless wars.
