How carefully will Khan be managed?

I love the guy's jab, because I also have a very stiff jab and know how much trouble it can give people. We cannot forget that last night's opponent has, what, two or three KO's out of 25-30 fights and that Khan has been brutally KO'd recently, not just KO'd, but brutally KO'd. It's obvious that out of every single available opponent, Paulie is the easiest to make waves with on your first fight on American soil. I am just curious to see in the next couple of years what kind of opposition they put him up against. I think it would be foolish to put him against 'just anyone', because of how much money the guy is capable of earning. You have to protect your money...He's a gold mine if managed properly. Keep him away from relentless punchers, if you ask me...

He's going to take careful management, they say you can train a chin, maybe to a degree... You'll never make a Chuvalo out of a Klitschko though, bottom line...... I'm just pointing out it would be smarter for his camp, and would generate more money overall, if he were carefully managed against guys who can't really hit.

Now we have guys from overseas making threads seriously talking about Khan vs Mayweather, etc. This is stuff anyone with a clue about the sport really just laughs at, but to think people are seriously thinking like this bothers me. I hope you dudes were tying on a long one before saying that, seriously.

Anyway, I bet Khan's next five opponents have less than a 50% KO percentage

Khan is being built up for one big cash out pay day. They will have him fight older names, very slow and unskilled punchers (just to say "Look!!! He beat a puncher!!!"), and slick boxers with no power to build up his name and record. Then they will put him in against someone good and hope for the best. If Khan had a chin he would be one hell of a fighter. But as it is he doesnt, and he will lose in comedy ko style as soon as Roach lines him up an actual fight.

To his credit, when Prescott landed the punch that started the knockout, Khan was loading up a left hook. This is the worst punch to be loading up to throw when you eat a left hook to the head because the weight is moving directly towards where you are getting hit...Khan then got caught with a left hook relatively flush, this sent him off balance. He backs up, then ate the big left hook/right hook combo that sent him on his ass the first time. Khan made three serious mistakes...

      1. He got hit with that first left hook while loading up with a left hook

      2. He got hit with the second left hook while loading up with another left hook, the dude got stuck and did the exact same thing, talk about rhythm.

      3. He got up too quickly when he got knocked down the first time, but he had that aura of invincibility and at his age to get knocked down and be that famous from his own homeland, it must be like 'oh, that was nothing, even though I am seeing six of him, I'm going to get up at 2'

But, I agree with your post

Khan can back it up, he isn't all hype as people make out, and whilst his chin isn't top notch, hr fights with heart.
Of course he will be heavily managed, but people have to remember that he is 23, he will want to maximise his career and earning power so it doesn't make sense to challenge everyone who is anyone straight away. He has a long time ahead of him to do that, he just need's to make sure that he is learning from Freddie as he is still far from the finished article.
To me it would make sense if he hangs around 140 and gets established before moving up and taking on all comers.

Amir Khan's run won't last long, he rushed into winning a title, this and expectations of boxing fans will pressure him into fighting the best sooner rather than later. Maidana could cause a upset but i think Khan will easily outbox him. Bradley, Alexander and Ortiz will cause Khan problems and he will likely get stopped by all three IMO.

I think Khan's people, if they are smart, will keep him away from Bradley...unless Bradley seriously falls off the map in terms of talent, and I don't see it happening soon.

I wish Bradley would start calling this guy out, but it won't happen because he doesn't have a big mouth like Haye.

Roach is going to take care of him even tho hes just a trainer.. plus Khan is supposed to replace Pac as is main fighter thats why he doesnt want them to fight eachother either.

yeah i agree man a good post.

i think khan will face a series of good fighters but only to get him to the championship level i think when he faces an all round top prospect he might well lose by KO. i remember watching him last night thinking how would a prime nate campbell do against him, you know someone tough, season and skilled.

i think khan will do very well against maidana, maidana is not like a prime urango. maidana is heavy handed (because he swings with all his punches) but hes got a very weak chin, he was decked several times by ortiz. i expect khan straighter shots to pick him off and maidana will be gone by the seventh or eigth round.
