You've got to give massive props to Bernard Hopkins...

Ignore the fact that I'm a fan and think just logically here.

From the age 40 Bernard Hopkins was able to have competitive battles / defeat the likes of ..

    Jermain Taylor
    Antonio Tarver
    Winky Wright
    Joe Calzaghe
    Kelly Pavlik

It's extremely mind boggling to think how he was able to survive against these guys when just recently you have the likes of Shane Mosley and Nate Campbell (aged in their late thirties) getting dominated badly.

He's an inspiration.. That is all.

PS. Still annoyed about the way he fought RJJ in their rematch though.

Very good post, idiots on here criticizing Hopkins latest performances don't realize that most men in their 40's are in an office with a big beer belly. this man at 43 killed the next great hope (Pavlik) when everyone said he would kill Hopkins.

His increase in infractions isn't something to be praised.

Hopkins has had a truly wonderful career, and i give him all the praise in the world. However, time now to retire.

A boxer can all too easily tarnish his own rep for going on fighting for too long, and BHs best days are behind him. Not to mention he doesnt sell tickets at all these days.

retire with grace, you've been a privilege to watch

They got dominated by slick good boxers. If Bad Chad actually enjoyed fighting, and was fighting 3-4 times a year, and hopkins ran into him, you would then see youth V age. Youth would win IMO. Hopkins aint ran into a good slick boxer in them times. Average punchers, and he is known for his good defence. Props to him though, his a veteran, and still going.

Yeah I do strongly think he should retire.

As healthy as he is he could do 'so' much

              - Commentate for HBO
              - Mend the GB Promotions feud and continue work down in the East Side
              - Perhaps even become a trainer (with his boxing knowledge - he could become a great one)

He could be a great trainer to a young fighter with a strong mentality and good ability.
