I have always considered Khan's jab his best shot. He is now developing a good left hook to the body but this is partly down to his too square on set up. That takes power from the right hand and moves it to the left.
He has a very good jab ,no question about it.

3 reasons why his jab looked great

1)Malignaggi had his left hand down the whole fight

2)Khan was the taller fighter with bigger reach

3)Khan fought a disciplined fight and stuck to the gameplan

doesnt make his jab particularly great. I think he still throws low and still relying mainly on speed and athleticsm. But he's going to run into someone who'll be able to go right over that jab and make him pay.
i think you're right but only to a degree

paulie did have his left hand way too low, he didn't move his head, he couldn't use his shoulder to deflect the jab and he couldn't use his feet to get out of the way and set himself for a counter. i definently think khans height and reach helped him last night, paulie just didn't seem to realize when khan had him in range.

i do think pauli looked bad tonight and in the post fight interview he mentioned how he looked old and i'd echo that. his feet and legs weren't there to help him get out of the way, too often he was waiting for a counter punching opportunity and imo against a longer and quicker fighter that was a bad move. if he had tried to be first it might have been different.

but i don't think we should try and discredit khan too much, in the end he fought a very good top 5 LWW and clearly won the fight. his jab was accurate and stiff and id have liked for him to have thrown the right hand behind it more often.

imo khan needs to take on maidana to show he can go in there against a puncher and stick to a gameplan and get the W.

i remember thinking that a prime nate campbell or a fighter of that ilk (seasoned, tough, skilled) would have capitalised on khan mistakes.

but for now credit where credit is due, khan deserves a top 3 ranking in the LWW stakes.
