Comments Thread For: Ortiz vs Campbell: Crossroads Bout With Careers at Stake

By Keith Idec - NEW YORK — Nate Campbell was among the veteran boxers who sought out Victor Ortiz in the aftermath of Ortiz’s infamous loss to Marcos Maidana.

Campbell constructively offered Ortiz advice as media members and fight fans were ostracizing Ortiz for essentially quitting against Argentina’s Maidana on June 27 at Staples Center. The disturbing defeat knocked Ortiz off the fast track to stardom, but Campbell encouraged him to avoid allowing the image-damaging loss to ruin his career. [Click Here To Read More]

Victor Ortiz is supposed to beat Nate Campbell so If he loses to Nate thats strike two against Ortiz after qutting against Maidana If this kid lose this fight he will have no more fans its easy to go from top prospect to bust overnight

ortiz needs 2 win this fight, alot of hype about him being the next golden boy. he cant afford 2 lose 2 cambell if he wants 2 be mentioned with the top jr welters in the world. i think he wins, maybe even by stoppage.

Ortiz actually came into my Starbucks the other day, where I work in Ventura (bordering Oxnard). Nice kid, seemed really excited to meet a fan. Grabbed a coffee and told me he was on his way to the gym. He seemed in very high spirits.

great test for ortiz & chance to show he has it
but not last chance young lions need to make mistakes
and learn from them before they become champions
