Does anyone think that Ricky could have achieved more with better handlers, trainers? I loved watching his fights, and he probably had the best fans in the world. Any thoughts?

nah, he accomplished everything he would have accomplished IMO. He had the perfect style that suited him and beat a list of good fighters, only lost to the #1 & 2 P4P fighter in the world. No shame in that at all.Comment

i think he maybe could have but he was loyal to billy graham and he did the eight thing in staying with graham up until 2008Comment

He can be proud of what he achieved, he was a good fighter but not great.
His lifestyle caught up in the end, the bloke walked through Tszyu's bombs and didn't budge, yet get's KO'd with one punch by Pac, he was also out on his feet against Collazo and Lazcano.
He should stay retired, spend all the muller he's made and enjoy his life.
I will say that nothing comes close to a Hatton fight for the build up and atmosphere.Comment

IMO when Ricky Hatton won the title against Kostya Tszyu, after that he went stale. I think Billy Graham's life ambition was to see Hatton as the world champion. After that Graham should have retired. He was damaged goods by that time anyway, always had hand injuries, and plus he could instill no discipline in Hatton outside of training, wanting to always appear more like his best mate than the stable master.
After Tszyu, if you look at Hatton's resume, the only 2 fights he dominated were against an old Jose Luis Castillo and a feather fisted Paulie Malignaggi. If you look at that string of fights, Carlos Maussa, Luis Collazo and Juan Urango, I think Hatton could have won those fights alot more convincingly, given the ability he had. Same goes for the Juan Lazcano fight.
There's no shame in the Floyd Mayweather loss, that was a prime vs. prime fight against the legitimate best fighter on the planet. The Manny Pacquiao loss on the other hand, I ain't even a Hatton fan but that one annoys me. That was not the Ricky Hatton we all know, he was a shell of himself that night, and the lack of training is a disgrace. I never understood why he tried to get this flash, jive ass American trainer. No motivation or anything in that fight.
IMO, when he won the IBF title off Tszyu, Billy Graham should have retired there and then rather than struggle through a couple more training camps and a whole bunch of injuries etc. And, I don't understand all this trying to get an American trainer ****. Someone like Robert McCracken (Carl Froch's trainer), I believe him in particular would have done a great job given Hatton's style.
Like has been said previously though, the life style outside of the ring which Hatton insisted on maintaining was always going to catch up with him, and was always going to hinder his career.Comment

I love Hatton, I really hope he can come back for one more WARRRR. He does not deserve to go out like he did with Pacquaio. He overtrained for that fight and had a terrible camp. I think Ricky was/an amazing fighter. I just think Billy shoulda preached more defense. If you see Hatton in his younger days, he had good head movement and was more on the defensive side, I think Hatton got ****y after all the knock outs and started head hunting.Comment
