AMIR KHAN'S US fight debut is in danger of being scrapped following a shocking mass brawl at his weigh-in with Paulie Malignaggi.
The WBA light welterweight champion was dragged away by his throat after the fighters were caught in a huge bust-up.

And Malignaggi's promoter Lou DiBella raged: "Did you see this s***? My guy got roughed up.

"If there is one more incident of this kind, he won't be fighting on Saturday night. That's a promise.

"This was not supposed to happen. The weigh-in was closed to the public yet Khan had so many people there shouting and screaming."

Around 50 noisy Khan supporters packed into the Petit Salon at the swish £1,000 a night Essex House Hotel on the edge of New York's Central Park.

And they pumped up the volume as Khan and Malignaggi tried to push each other back after they deliberately touched foreheads and aimed verbal abuse at one another.

Suddenly the violence exploded as it descended into a mass brawl with Khan fans trying to wade in before they were forced back.

Khan's father Shah and his manager Asif Vali were both caught in the middle of the shameful flashpoint as they tried to restore calm.

Malignaggi — who has trash talked the Brit since the fight was announced — tumbled back into the hoardings as Khan was surrounded by members of his Golden Boy promotions stable.

The English star was then led away away with fans screaming his name.

Anthony Cantanzaro, Malignaggi's representative, fumed: "Khan's people came in and started fighting on the stage."

And Khan's manager Vali, shocked at the way the mood turned so ugly so quickly, could not explain what had caused the fracas.

He said: "After all the trash talking he's done...I did say that Amir would be bringing a lot of support and as far as we were concerned the weigh-in was open to the public.

"They now know that Amir has plenty of support over here."

No security personnel were visible at the hotel that is frequented by the likes of the Duchess of York.

And Malignaggi said: "If Golden Boy had done this like they were supposed to do, there would have been none of this. There was shoving and then suddenly all hell broke lose."

Shah Khan added: "There was contact made, Malignaggi made contact with Amir. Fights get hyped up but you don't need any of that.

"There was no need for it, I thought Malignaggi was the cause of it all. His camp's bottle has gone, that's what this is all about. They realise now what kind of following Amir gets
