Nobody in my town knows boxing!! This sucks

I know like 3 people that know boxing really well and that i can talk boxing with.

Most people i ask "do you know Floyd Mayweather?" they usually say yea but when i talk about his fights they just look at me ... and are like "huh?"

Like its uncool to like boxing around here. I got in an arguement with my cousin about boxing vs mma. He kept saying how GSP got like 400 K or whatever in his last fight like OMG ... then when i told him about Floyd making 30-40 mill a fight he all like "oh fk i dont give a **** about all that"

Thats why i love coming on here ... i feel at home!

I felt the same way at first, I live in Miami and not very many of my friends were into it, only 1 of my co-workers had a good knowledge of the sport & we would discuss from time to time.

what i did was start having fight nights whenever they had boxing on HBO or SHO, inviting all my friends and having a good time, eventually they became casual fans.

Seriously, I live in Holland and nobody in this entire country knows boxing. Ive made a couple of close friends casual fans and we watch major fights together but thats it. Ive got a couple of friends in their 30s (Im 22) who do know a lot about british boxing because it used to be on TV in the 90s. People here seem to be more into K1 and the MMA hype is gradually getting a mainstream fanbase. I used to live in the second largest city here and theres only one boxing gym there which was opened 5-6 years ago.

If Holland produced world champions it would help the sports popularity over there (no offence)

People only know boxing in the uk because of Amir Khan, Ricky Hatton, Pacquiao and Mayweather.
