This all started when Hopkins announced a few weeks ago (when he's still got Taylor in front of him) that he wants to fight Roy as one of his last fights to avenge the last loss he had:

Roy knows this is a big money fight, and a high profile fight if Hopkins beats Taylor, so it's natural he is interested. Its low risk as Hopkins isn't a big puncher.

I just don't like Hopkins A) Calling out anyone before he's fighting Taylor and B) calling out a guy coming off back to back KO losses.

Don't get me wrong, I like and respect Hopkins a lot, but I think he should have waited until after the Taylor fight to talk about this.

I also think that if he beats Taylor, that he should go after Calzaghe or Tarver, not Jones. I realize he just wants to avenge his loss, but Roy is coming off those two KO losses, and is inactive. It just doesn't seem like an attractive a fight as it should.

I think Roy would get in great shape for this fight and beat Hopkins by a close but clear UD.

"A Roy Jones Jr.-Bernard Hopkins fight for the grand finale," Hopkins said. "It's the 12-year anniversary since 1993 that we've been in the ring together."

Hopkins had wanted to fight Felix Trinidad, but Trinidad was soundly defeated last month by Winky Wright, leaving Hopkins with little motivation to fight him.

"Let Roy rest up," Hopkins said. "We'll do it at 175 pounds. Roy doesn't have to kill himself to come down."

Hopkins made the announcement at his final workout before heading to Miami to complete his training for his bout against Taylor (23-0, 17 KOs).

Hopkins has successfully defended his title 20 times in the last decade, including a September 2004 knockout of an overmatched Oscar De La Hoya in the ninth round.

"It's the only fight out there that makes sense," Hopkins said of a rematch with Jones. "I think it makes more sense than me and Winky Wright."

Hopkins said he wanted to challenge himself by moving up to light heavyweight for his last two bouts -- fights in which he figures he would be the underdog.

"I'm venturing back into dangerous waters where I'm not really comfortable," Hopkins said.

I agree with you. He shouldn't be calling out anyone before he gets past Taylor. Taylor wants this and if BHop isn't on his game, its Lights Out.

On the other hand, like you said, this would be a huge huge huge money fight. Whou wouldn't want to see Roy come out and go one last time with B-Hop.

The fact that Roy is coming off of 2 KO losses, makes this all the more intresting. I think B-Hop might KO RJJ, I don't think Glen is a big puncher either and he seriously KTFO out of roy.

Johnson is naturally a bigger puncher than Hopkins, and he's been a Lt Heavyweight for a long time. He also took the fight to Roy (who was rumored to have not trained for a fight like that) and broke him down.

Hopkins at 40, isn't going to have that work rate, and doesn't carry the same power.

Not saying Hopkins can't win, if Roy's reflexes and speed aren't all there, it's a very winnable fight for him. It just wouldn't be the same way Johnson did it.

If Bernard beats him after beating Taylor, it'll solidify his legacy.

Both Roy and Hopkins have their legacies cemented at this point. This is just gravy.
