I believe that it's a good thing as well because IMO, Mr. Mayweather wants to make sure that the buzz is still strong for that fight between the two parties so that this will indeed become the biggest event in boxing history.
Take this for example, Mr. Mayweather left the sport for 21 months, so that he would become the most talked about and sought after boxer, (even though he wasn't actively fighting at the time, and also with the situations that he went through during the Oscar De La Hoya negotiations for their fight, pissed him off and he just wanted a break from the sport for a little while), he took notice of all the fighters that were repositioning themselves as stars, hopefuls, bums, cab drivers, champions, etc. Saw that the fans, & media kept pushng Mr. Pacquiao as this "great boxer", and the "next best thing".
So, Mr. Mayweather saw that it was the perfect opportunity to come off his long "vacation", and in a very easy and convincing effort, beat the #2 p4p ranked fighter at the time not to mention the same fighter that gave Mr. Pacquiao problems both of their fights. Mr. Mayweather was trying to make a statement. "Look how easily I beat the guy that most people say beat Manny Pacquaio twice". This has nothing to do with Figher Of The Decade, or none of that nonsense. It's all about revenue and shutting down the haters and nay-sayers.
Mr. Mayweather is also in the best position possible which is, in order for ANY FIGHTER to make their biggest payday at this time, all roads lead to Mr. Mayweather, because whether people want to admit it or not, he is the biggest revenue generating fighter in the sport. So no matter what Mr. Arum says, Mr. Roach says, or what the media says. The only way the fight happens depends on the fans interest(which makes a big event), OSDT(which proves that both fighters are on an even playing field), and venue(which more than likely will be Vegas because Texas is notorious for bad judged fights). So the waiting game can and will definitely be beneficial.
Everyone have a great day.Last edited by djcmd; 05-13-2010, 11:03 PM.Comment

I think Pac should go ahead and announce his retirement. Mayweather is not fighting Pac on Pac's terms. NO RANDOM DRUG TESTS, NO FIGHT! It doesn't get any clearer than that. If Pac wants the fight, he should agree to the tests. If he doesn't, he and his team should shut the hell up.Comment

I thought he already told Mayweather FU. Now he is talking about fighting Mayweather, but only on his terms. It doesn't work that way. He and his team have been talking about Mayweather every since he signed for the Clottey fight. So I agree with you. He should tell him to FU and shut the **** up and retire or agree to the blood tests. He is doing neither.Comment

The fighter of the decade is the equivalent of People Magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive" award or "Most Beautiful People" award. It doesn't mean a damn thing. The award, just like the People magazine awards, is given to whoever is the most popular or creating the most buzz at the time the award is given. How the hell else can you explain how a man is the sexiest man alive in 2009, but someone else is the sexiest man alive in 2010. Did the 2009 winner get fat and bald in less than a year and lose his title?
Manny Pacquaio lost three times in this decade and he would have lost more if he had fought quality competition at 135 and 140. I can tell by your age and this post that you are a novice when it comes to boxing, but even as a novice, your comment is absolutely ridiculous!Comment
