There's a gif a lot of forumers have of Mayweather throwing a left hook (which is blocked) then straight right at Shane on the break. The crowd goes crazy, and Ali sits there emotionless.

I think Ali has respect for Floyd as a fighter but is concerned for him as a human. Kind of like Ali and Tyson. You saw that Ali had much respect for Tyson and seemed to genuinely like him every time they meet but he must have been very concerned about how Tyson lived his life.
