Vitaliy and Wladimir Klitschko vs. Don King

Does anybody else think that it's obvious that VK's postponed fight with Rahman has only one reason: Wladimir's fight with Byrd didn't happen? A while back Vitaliy said that DK always wanted to work with Klitschko brothers but they never wanted to come near him. In his recent interview Vitaliy said something like "if you can't beat them, join them". IMO, it's pretty obvious that Vitaliy will not fight Rahman until Wladimir has a title shot against Byrd. Any opinions?

This is the interview with VK that was posted on Klitschko web site in the news section:

When you first met Don King 9 years ago, he didn’t make a good first impression on you. Then you didn’t want to sign any agreement with him, but now to bypass him is almost impossible. Since then has your relationship and attitude towards Don King changed?

VK: Don King was and remains rather influential promoter, who persistently tries to accomplish his goals, one of which is full control of heavyweight division. Currently under Don King’s promotion are three fighters holding three championships belts from leading boxing organization.
Considering these circumstances, you have to understand that for Wladimir to fight for world championship title or for me to unify championship belts we have to work with Don King. This work should be acceptable and mutually beneficial to both sides.
We hope that we’ll be able to find mutual understanding with Don King to carry out these fights, which would interest boxing fans from all other the world.

It doesn't matter. If he doesn't fight his mandatory by September, which will be Rahman or Barret, he's losing the title. That's that. Everyone is sick of this chumps boring excuses, I hurt this, I hurt that, I'm too scared to fight Rahman. Then he goes and calls Brewster out. All he does is take the easiest fight possible to him, and attempts to skip his mandatories.

    It's sickening.

He's never going to unify, either, because once he fights some real opposition, he's going to get exposed. For **** sake, he couldn't even put an old, out of shape, useless for anything more than a punching bag, Lennox Lewis out. Lewis who was KOed by two guys that are supposed to have less of a punch than he does, comes in and not only stays with him the whole fight, but ends up winning on a TKO.

I can't wait for Vitali to be stripped, maybe then some progress can be made with the heavyweights.

And you really expect him to surrender his belt without even fighting? You seriously believe that?

      That's reaching, a punching bag?

I agree, there has been alot of bull**** involved in trying to get VK in the ring, but he's far from the only one ever guilty of doing it. Do you seriously think the other belt holders are much more anxious to defend against top contenders? Look at Byrd, and Brewster and Ruiz both have false confidence, Ruizs' is more justified because the refs have let him cheat for so long. Brewster has his coming, he won't be able to just run at every opponent winging punches, his days are numbered. Even if VK did unify the belts, would you like him? I doubt it.

No, I wouldn't, because he's a bum. The man makes a tree look mobile.

The heavyweight division is in such terrible shape. Getting him out of it would be the first step in making it good again. Getting rid of King would be an even better step, but that isn't going to happen, so we may as well take the second best option.

And yes, a punching bag, in that fight. Lewis was useless in that fight, anyone should have been able to beat him, but Vitali couldn't do it.

The bottom line is that any attempt to unify, like his defense agaisnt Rahman, will be copromoted by Don King.

There's no reason why they can't work together.

Toney is a Goosen fighter, and they easilly came to terms with King to work together in the Ruiz fight.

Vitali WILL work with King in his next few fights. That's all there is to it.

I think the real question here is how is the winner of Rahman vs. Barrett which happens on August 13 going to be ready for Vitali by September 24?

If it'll be Rahman (which I doubt), he will say "I am ready", VK will KTFO him, and everyone will say that Rahman wasn't ready and some other ****.
