5 Boxing matches that need to happen in 2010. That don't involve May or Pac

There seems to be a 'sick' obsession growing over a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Manny Pacquiao. An obsession that leaves people thinking Boxing is 'finished' if this fight doesn't happen. Well, I'm here to tell all who think or feel this way that there are other great fighters in Boxing and other great fights that need to happen. And the best thing about it, none of these potential fights involve Boxing's two most recognized names Floyd Jr and CongressMANNY.

5 - Paul Williams vs. Kermit Cintron (Rematch)
Jackie Williams Sacramento, CA "Do you think Williams and Cintron should have a rematch?"
If any of you saw this fight, as I did, you would be sitting here thinking the same thing. What the heck just happened? This is the craziest finish I've ever seen. I think there needs to be a rematch. Nothing was resolved in this fight. How can Williams be satisfied with that victory? Like I said in a previous article, this fight hurt Williams more than it helped him. In addition to hurting Williams, nobody really wants to hear Cintron scream about this for the rest of the year. Plus, more details are coming out that make the finish seem more controversial.
Not so fast, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are still out of Paul Williams' reach

4 - Antonio Margarito vs. Miguel Cotto
There's a grudge here between these two warriors. Cotto suffered his first loss at the hands of Margarito. Miguel thinks that Margarito cheated due to his plastered hand wraps incident against Mosley. Margarito, who made his big return last weekend, needs a big fight to cement his return to boxing relevancy. And if Cotto defeats Yuri Foreman for the WBA light middleweight title on June 5th, this fight would have an extra measure of excitement. And I guarantee, a certain Congressman would be in line to face the winner of this fight.

3 - Shane Mosley vs. Andre Berto
This fight was originally scheduled for January of this year. However, Berto pulled out due to the horrific tragedy in his homeland of Haiti. I say they have unfinished business and this title unification bout needs to happen. One of two things can be settled, either Berto proves he's the rising star with 2 straps or Mosley proves that he's still a warrior who had a bad night in his last fight. Neither fighter has anything else on the horizon and a title unification bout is always good for boxing.

2 - Devon Alexander vs. Timothy Bradley
Probably the most exciting fight that most causal boxing fans don't know about. Arguably 2 of the most exciting fighters under 150 pounds, Devon Alexander and Timothy Bradley are already flirting with a potential fight in July or August. Devon is the WBC and IBF light welterweight champion and Timothy is the division's WBO champ. Both fighters are undefeated and the future of the welterweights. Timothy Bradley compared this fight to Hagler vs. Hearns.
Maidana’s ‘departure’ opens the door for a title unification bout between Alexander and Bradley

1 - Wladimir Klitschko vs. David Haye
Sean K. Sacramento, CA "How important is the Klitschko vs. Haye fight?"
This fight is arguably the most important fight in boxing outside of Floyd and Manny. For a division that has been irrelevant over the last 6 or 7 years, a fight between 2 men with 3 of the top 4 straps would be huge. But, the biggest reason they need to fight is because there is an ugly feud between them. The Klitschkos hate David Haye and a fight with him should turn into a war. The heavyweight division used to be the most celebrated division in all of Boxing. This fight would be the most significant heavyweight fight in almost 10 years and help to make the division important again.

I don't think Miguel will move back to welterweight, and I don't care to see Margarito rematch him at 154 if Cotto can grab a belt. I'd prefer he move on with his career. To me, it was a pretty definitive loss and despite it being competitive until he was broken down in the later rounds, I feel like that type of pressure fight is all wrong for him. He needs to rebound, not rewind.

I'd replace your #4 with Bute-Pavlik. Call me crazy but I'd like to see it.

Only ones I agree with is Haye vs. Wlad and Alexander-Bradley.

            1. Haye vs. Wlad
            2. Lopez vs. Gamboa
            3. Alexander vs. Bradley
            4. Williams vs. Martinez II
            5. Berto vs. Cotto

Also, thought I agree Cintron should get a rematch just so we can see if the fight was going to get good, as it appeared in that last round, the more important and meaningful rematch- now that we know Pavlik is moving up and not going after Martinez again, would be Williams-Martinez at 160 for Sergio's new belt...
