Comments Thread For: Schaefer on Calzaghe's Return, Canelo, Juarez-Litzau II

BoxingScene.com spoke with Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer about the latest happenings in his company. Undefeated Mexican welterweight star Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will return to the ring on July 10 in Mexico. Schaefer wanted to place his next fight on the Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz pay-per-view on July 31, but Televisa, a major television network in Mexico, is planning something big for Alvarez on July 10. With the layoff I doubt Joe is anywhere as good as he was.

I thought for sure winky was going to leave GBp to go with top rank, if he gets a chance with Martinez , maravilla laughs and murders wright with ease, not even worth having.pavlik will never hear the end of it if he fights winky at '60 since he didn't want to rematch martinez at the same weight, just retire winky ,both fights not worth watching.

If they are putting his fight before or after the finals of the world cup then they are really pushing him hard to become a superstar. That's like having a Boxing match before or after the Superbowl, it's an amazing push for the young Alvarez.

Man Juarez career has been at a crossroads for a long time now, he's just an exciting fighter that makes for good undercards. If they take the fight to houston Litazu will lose hands down. Looks like Schaffer is trying to pull a Juan Diaz again
