Lewis's best weight was around 240. He was a big man though and carried the weight well but his conditioning looked pretty bad against Vitali. He was preparing for Kirk Johnson who was a relatively easy opponent. Vitali was actually training to fight Cedric Boswell on the undercard. The event was supposed to hype a potential meeting between the two but when Kirk Johnson pulled out, Lewis decided to take on Vitali instead.

Vitali landed a terrific right hand in the early goings but I thought Lewis took it pretty well, despite being forced to hold on. The same can be said about the uppercut Vitali took. Both took big punches and proved their ability to take a punch in my opinion.

Lewis took on a challenger like Vitali on a short notice and walked through bombs to land his own like a true champion. I don't see why people criticize him so much over the fight. He didn't give Vitali a rematch but atleast he didn't keep on campaigning and picking easy fights, he retired, vacated the title and let Vitali take over.

Fans were robbed of a rematch, we don't often get exciting heavyweight fights like this one. It deserved a rematch.

Vitali lost to an out of shape, past prime Lewis. Get over it.

            THE TRUTH

Vitali was clearly winning the fight 4-2 on all 3 scorecards at the time of the controversial doctor stoppage. Lewis was badly hurt and was staggering around the ring like a drunk, he barely survived the 2nd round. Lewis was getting outboxed, outworked, outlanded and was hurt several times in the fight.

            punches landed

            Vitali 156

            Lewis 102

Lewis was exhausted and worn down from the accumulation of punches, he collapsed onto his stool at the end of the 6th round, Vitali was the fresher of the two, he was a man on a mission and would've KO'd Lewis for sure if the fight had continued.

Vitali intimidated the **** out of the scared Lewis after the fight and made him look like a *****. All the fans at Staples Center cheered for Vitali and boo'd Lewis after the fight.

            Lewis promised Vitali a rematch.

Vitali destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds and called out Lewis in the post fight interview. The scared Lewis retired shortly after that fight.

Lewis turned down 25 million dollars for a rematch and retired like a coward because he knew he would get destroyed by Vitali.
This is clearly full of bias and favoritism so responding in an unbiased manner would just be a waste of time.

Punch stat numbers only count in amateur boxing. Professional boxing is about putting hurt on your opponent. Klitschko hurt Lewis in the second round badly atleast twice and Lewis came out for the third round and landed a hard, sharp overhand right that tore open Klitschko's eye.

The only clear cut rounds were the second and sixth; the second going to Klitschko and the sixth going to Lewis. The referee and doctor kept allowing Klitschko to go out for more rounds because he was still very much in the fight but by the sixth round he was starting to get dominated and they halted it there.

The judges may have had the LA-resident Klitschko ahead but in a fight that wasn't heading to the cards anyways, what does it matter? Lewis was beginning to chop Klitschko down and the doctor's halted it before Klitschko's eye was compromised.

                No

They were both hurt at times, but Lewis IMO was winning. Did Klitchko cut himself shaving?

Vitali was landing mostly left jabs that were arm punches, whereas Lewis was throwing nothing but bombs.

He landed less, but his connect % was much higher, and he did much more damage. He fifnished the 6th round stronger and landing big uppercuts.

Lewis boasted "He would have one brother for lunch and the other brother for Tea" and Vitali was thought of as being the poorest of the two Klitschko brothers, Lewis promised the entire boxing world that he would face Vitali in a rematch yet he dragged out his title reign for another 9 months until only days before he was to be stripped of his last remaining belt Lewis retired.

When 10 days before the fight, he agreed (for umpteen extra millions) to fight his LONG TIME No.1 challenger, his MANDATORY, whom he`d been avoiding for ever, whilst at the same time denigrating him (and his brother) with his loose-lipped mouth, He`d make damned sure he was in his best condition. Common sense dictates this.

LOl @ "phony DQ against Ruiz"

Man, get over it. Maybe if it was the ref that caused his eye lid to fall off then you'd have a point. Who the **** cares if he was up on the cards, the tide had turned and he was getting pummeled by a fat old man.
