Comments Thread For: Amir Khan: I Have The Style To Beat Bradley, Alexander

AMIR Khan has vowed to become the king of the light-welterweight division by the end of the year.

Khan defends his WBA world title against New Yorker Paulie Malignaggi at Madison Square Garden here on Saturday night.

And he is convinced it will take him a huge step nearer to becoming the undisputed top dog in the division.

Although he faces fierce competition, the 23-year-old declared confidently: “By the end of the year I know I’ll be at my peak and be No.1.” [Click Here To Read More]

Although he faces fierce competition, the 23-year-old declared confidently: “By the end of the year I know I’ll be at my peak and be No.1.”

He is also not frightened of seeking clashes with the men dominating the light-welterweight category.

Timothy Bradley (WBO belt holder), Devon Alexander (WBC and IBF) and the impressive Marcos Maidana are all on his radar.

He said: “I repeat, that I think by the end of this year I can be number one in this division and beating the likes of Timothy Bradley and the big names is what I want.

“I’d say that people probably think Bradley is the number one. He is more experienced, he’s had more fights and he’s older.

“But every fight I’m getting better and before you know it I’ll be on the same level as those guys.

“I know I have the style to beat them. And, after beating guys like Bradley, you go to a level where you are fighting guys like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosley – so it can happen quickly.”

Khan has lost just one of his 22 pro fights, to *Colombian Breidis Prescott in September 2008 in a shock first round KO.

But, since then, he has won four on the bounce, including the WBA title triumph. He puts much of the credit down to the influence of his trainer Freddie Roach, who has transformed him into a better all-round boxer.

Khan said: “I worked with him around 2005 when I first went to America.

“Seeing what he has done with world-class fighters like Manny Pacquiao, I thought he could do the same with me if I stayed focused and worked hard.

“Then I looked at the whole picture – he’s got the experience, he’s been in the ring himself, he’s a good coach and he’s had 24 world champions.

“I was his 25th and he has really helped my game – probably using my brains, picking the right shots at the right time and not rushing in.

“I used to fight using the heart, being aggressive and I’d think I could knock anyone down, but I had a good boxing brain and never used to use that.

“He is a brilliant trainer. I think everyone can see the change since I’ve been with Freddie – I’m like a different fighter.”

YEAH !! WAR KHAN . Amir said that he wants to be the no.1 in the 140 division, he therefore has to fight the likes of Bradley, Alexander or Maidana. This is great news but just watch how them haters are gonna hate on Amir yet again.

Haters will be here in 3...2...1...

Amir Khan better smash Paulie up.. im expecting an even more dominant victory then Hatton (after Mayweather) got over Paulie.. he literally won every round bar the first. Also he outboxed Paulie a bit as well hence all the talk of Floyd sr having really changed Hatton.

Did you read the article *****?

He already accepts Bradly number one and by saying he will be on their level maybe by the end of the year, he concedes that he isn't top dog yet (Alex and Bradly)
