You people obviously haven't seen Charley Burley or Herol Graham at their sharpest.

Mayweather and Toney are the best in the game today.

All time it's Whitaker (because I've seen a lot of footage of him and he was unreal)...followed by Willie Pep (hearsay and legends...footage of him in his prime is very rare)

Other great defensive fighters of the last 20 years or so have been Roberto Duran, Wilfred Benitez, Arturo Gatti

          Willie pep--good call bozo.

Winky's defense is ridiculous. He catches punches with his walking shield. Mayweather has a great defense....but I would give the edge to Toney. Both use that Mongoose style, and it seems to work for them. if you notice about Winky and Ali.....most punches landed on their arms even if they were standing right in front of you.

The only way to get past it is like Vasquez showed with Winky...and just attack his ass. The way past ali, was to grin and bear it. If you did not land clean punches, he would just pull your head down and wear you out and make you throw punches.

I watch the Quarry 1 fight and laugh my ass off how ali is just so superior. He talks to the crowd while blocking punches.

I would love to see a feinting match between Whitaker and Mayweather. It would be pretty amusing to watch it while it lasted (of course Whitaker would out-feint his ass)

                There is some confusion here:

If you guys are talking about "Fleet Footedness"

How come nobody has mentioned RJJ? When I think defense....I am thinking about standing in front of someone blocking punches.

Currently Mayweather is probably one of the most complete fighters I've ever seen at all around defense.

He can move in and out with his fast feet, he can move his head and body in all sorts of crazy directions, he can pick shots off with his arms, and when you do hit him it's no where as near as hard as you planned for it to be thanks to the shoulder roll.
