“Things are great in camp. Emanuel has brought a lot of amazing things to Miguel’s training,” reveals Phil Landman, the fitness coach of Cotto.
“I see him really enjoying himself and working hard on some of what he and Emanuel have addressed on the boxing side. It’s great to have him with us from a team perspective too, I am learning a lot from working next to him and have really enjoyed so since he arrived. The chemistry between he and Miguel is very good. Emanuel has a few of his students working with Miguel and they are doing an awesome job. So far the changes to the camp in general have been very productive and there are still three weeks to go in Tampa.”
Landman says Steward is making some changes to the Cotto arsenal.
“I always try to learn as much as I can about boxing, always try to ask questions and Emanuel always takes the time to answer and explain. Besides just having the opportunity to work alongside him is an education in itself. I am not going to elaborate just yet on some of the changes Miguel and Emanuel have been working on but all the training sessions so far have been with real purpose and direction and both seem to be enjoying working through the challenges presented by each.”
Cotto will challenge Yuri Foreman for the WBA Super Welterweight title on June 5 at Yankee Stadium. Cotto is attempting to win a world title in his third weight division
