when Floyd smiles in the ring or does some other **** in there. 1st off, he's usually serious & focused at all times which makes it hard for anyone to catch him off guard.
However, his D is so good that when anyone catches him with any kind of clean punch, he smiles like he's surprised that he got hit. Thats how crazy his D is right now. He literally expects to go full fights without taking a clean shot, even against the elite guys. Then when he does get hit he smiles like he cant believe it or like he's saying "good shot", or like "you got me but it wont happened again". The **** is funny.
Then he also smiles when he gets buzzed some, like he also expects to never ever get hurt in a fight. He smiled on both of those big shots by Shane and alot of times its more than a smile. Its a laugh. He even shakes his head sometimes like "you gotta do more than that to hurt me" and he actually comes forward every single time. People call him a ***** but when he was hit clean against Chop, Zab, JMM, or Mosley, he repsonded by coming forward and stepping up the Offense. Alot of times he does it before he's even all the way clear. Thats heart and you have to respect that.
Then you have the reverse side when he dishes it out. Like in round 8 when him & Shane got to talking. After Floyd landed that one shot and they started talking, it sounded like Floyd was saying something like "throw that jab out there and watch me eat that **** up". Then he kept daring Shane to do it. He threw one of his own to make Shane do it. Shane throws it and immediatly Floyd counters with a 1-2 before the jab even got to him.
Then right after that Shane kinda chases Floyd into the rope & Floyd is really covered up, Shane doesnt know how to get to him all the way so he throws a jab out to measure. Floyd immediatly shoots the jab right back to blind him & make him hesitate, and then comes over the top with the straight right that kills him. He starts smiling & laughing again, like he was just toying with Shane. Then directly after that Shane starts backing up and I love Floyd's stance. Floyd's coming forward at him and switching his guard back & forths. That **** looks so smooth. Then he starts ducking up & down some and boom with the straight right again.
He's like the only guy in boxing right now who can switch his stance up anytime he wants. He did it alot during this fight. One time he was walking at Shane on a backwards lean with both his hands down and he was kinda low, but the next second he immediatly stood straight up to his tallest point with both arms high in the high guard. Then the next second you will see him with the shoulder roll, then the next with the peek-a-boo, then the next with the crab defense. That **** is masterful.
Also, did any of you catch how he was tricking the **** out of Shane. He would keep catching Shane with the right hand and Shane would start looking out for it. He's coming at Floyd & he's measuring Floyd's right hand. His whole mindset is on Floyd's right and the right side of his body. Then boom. Floyd shoots a stiff ass left jab. Shane wasnt even thinking aobut that side of Floyd at all and then Shane would have to pause & restart. Then Shane does that pawing jab alot and tries to size you up. Everytime he did that, Floyd would throw his jab, which through off all of Shane's timing, makes him hesitate, and then here comes the straight right. **** was classic.
Its also dope how Floyd may use the high guard & jab. Then the next second he's in the shoulder roll stance with his left arm down by his waste so you are really not even paying attention to it from an Offensive standpoint and then he shoots the jab real quick again from down low. It makes you hesitant. Thats why I say people can say what they want about Shane's age but Floyd had his ass fooled in that ring. He didnt know what to do.
Shane also telegraphs alot of his **** by the pawing jab, hesitating, or being jittery. Just none of his opponents are smart or fast enough to read that **** but Floyd could do it all night. Everytime Shane tried to adjust and do something, Floyd would see it and take that **** away before he even got started. The only thing cooler than all that **** right now is maybe when like James Toney does crazy **** like when he was fighting Holyfield and kept looking sideways or doing a bunch of stuff in between the fight
