Sorry if this has been posted before but i read this and thought boy this is weird.

The HBO article states that 2 sisters gave birth to 2 children, 1 boy & 1 girl, these cousins had an arranged marriage and amir was born from this marriage.

Am i right in thinking his mum and dad are first cousins and his grandma and nan are sisters?!?!?!

I doubt Khan's family would divulge such information. It's not private information (everyone close to them would know if it was true and think nothing of it) but very seldom are 'outsiders' given that sort of information.

I call BS on typical HBO sensationalism. I stopped reading when they tried to insinuate that Pakistan is in the Middle East. It's a typical piece of sensationalism with nothing to substantiate the 'facts'.

Khan is from the Rajput caste/clan. Traditionally, the Rajputs are Sikh - and many Sikhs who converted to Islam in India kept the Rajput caste status. Seldom did/or do Rajput caste members intermarry with their cousins with most marriages being confined to other members of the Rajput caste. His mother is also Kashmiri while his father is from the Punjab regions of Pakistan (and probably not even cousins therefore as geographically most families are typically village centered) which again dispels the entire article.

For the record, first/second cousin marriage is common throughout Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Israel (the most powerful family in the world - The Rothschilds - are a bunch of inbreds), Africa etc. At the turn of the 20th century, inbreeding or cousin marriages were very common.

They are still common amongst 'tribal' or 'clan' cultures.
