2002 Trainer of the Year Buddy McGirt who is preparing Arturo Gatti for his showdown with Floyd Mayweather in Atlantic City on June 25 took the time out of his busy schedule to speak with ********** about the upcoming fight. Buddy talks about Arturo and his training and what concerns if any there are about this fight. He also touches on who he would like Arturo Gatti to face next. Don't miss this one!
Jose Aguirre: How's training turning out for Arturo Gatti?
Buddy McGirt:"Beautifully. Everything is great."
JA: How excited is Arturo to be facing Floyd Mayweather?
BM:"He's very excited. I think what's really exciting him more than anything is the fact that he's going to beat this guy and beat him easier than people think."
JA: What are you working on with Arturo?
BM:"A little of this and a little of that. He's just excited about the fact that he's going to beat this guy."
JA: As his trainer are there any concerns for you going into this fight?
BM:"Nah. Nope."
JA: Do you believe that Floyd Mayweather Jr can hurt Arturo Gatti?
BM:"This is how I feel. Anybody can hurt anybody. We're not going in with that attitude but we are going in with the attitude that we're going to beat this guy."
JA: Is it a fact that you're also going in there with the attitude that Arturo Gatti is the bigger puncher?
BM:"We all know he's the bigger puncher than Floyd but we're not going out there looking for the knockout. Our goal is to go in there and beat the guy. But if we hit him behind the ear the game is over."
JA: Have you been able to find the proper guys to give you the sparring for a Floyd Mayweather?
BM:"We don't look for guys that fight like Floyd. My main concern is getting guys with hand speed to get him prepared for the hand speed. As far as getting sparring with fighters that fight like Floyd you're really not going to get that. The key is to get someone with good hand speed to keep him thinking and make
