We could give that a try but i enjoy winding up the yanks to much!!

Its funny how the same rules dont apply for US boxers!! If Lacy was from the UK he'd be an overated, untested fighter who couldnt even stop Sheika!!

I got home a little late Sat night and only caught the Castillo-Casamayor fight. I really was much more excited for the Sheika-Lacy fight and was pleasantly suprised to hear it was a good fight. I have actually been thinking Sheika is similar to a big Arturo Gatti. Great offensive skills, pretty easy to hit, fairly good chin, cuts and swells easy, and a crowd pleaser. Can't wait to watch the replay tonight. This fight confrims to me that Joe C would hand Lacy his first loss/

sheika's 2 fights with scott pemberton on espn were classics, he's a good fighter but just short of championship class.

Against Calzaghe he was stopped because he was out on his feet, not due to the cuts above both eyes. Did you see the fight or have you just been reading Sheika's interviews?
Sorry, Frank, I hadn't read the whole thread, my mistake. I'm working off a 2002 issue of the Ring, wherein they name him the hardest-chinned supermiddleweight, and point to the Calzaghe fight as evidence. You're correct, though, I was not able to see the fight.

No problem. The cuts would have been enough to stop it but the ref actually jumped in whilst he was under a barrage of punches from JC after already being shaken by a few big ones earlier in the round and in the 4th. It's not how Omar tells it now though - he blames it on a butt.

True...those were 2 great fights. I enjoyed the fight alot but got a bit irritated with Shieka for all that holding. I understand that they were both real tired from all that slugging, but Omar just seemed to get worse with the holding as the fight wore on.

It's time for Omar to call it a career. Everyone is saying 'great job'?, he LOST again. He's almost a 'stepping stone' or resume padder for up and comers...........
