Comments Thread For: Ricky Hatton is Focused on Promoting, Not Fighting Again

British boxing superstar Ricky Hatton told reporters the "fire in the belly" is still missing when it comes to fighting again. Hatton will not return to the ring unless the fire in the belly is there. Hatton is putting all of his focus on his promotional company. The Manchester star has been busy in Sheffield with several signings of local talent to his Hatton Promotions stable. He signed 6'8 heavyweight Richard Towers (7-0, 5KOs) from South Yorkshire. Smart move. You can't routinely balloon up 40 or 50 lbs between fights and not have it do a number on you. Plus he's likely having trouble still making 140 and hasn't shown to be real effective at 47.

He's fat as hell now anyway, I doubt that he could get back down to 147 let alone 140. And if he does he would be totally drained and not prepared to fight.

Another thing I never understood is why boxingscene has his picture at the top of the page, he's was way overrated. And Calzaghe and De La Hoya should come down too because they are both retired.

Glad to hear it. However, I still think he should watch his weight. He is far to young to look the way he does between fights and that can't be healthy. Hopefully he keeps training (just to stay in shape not to fight) or picks up some other athletic hobby other than darts and beer.

Hatton earned his chance to be in the ring with the two best guys in the world, I think he deserves his picture on a Boxing website.

Same goes for Calzaghe and De La Hoya, they done their bit for the sport and there is no reason why Boxingscene's owners should not have their picture up, they own the site and can do what they like

What you say about them guys is just your opinion and opinions are like arse holes, everybody has got one !

They need recognisable faces on there

I'm tired of Hatton not giving definite answers about whether or not he's going to fight again. Just retire already. You've got nothing left anyhow. How far I've turned around with this guy.
