@JulVal and JM1.... my sentiments exactly. You guys laid out exactly how I felt after reading this article. Great article about people becoming experts overnight. Right now, I feel bad mostly for Cintron. He got a bad deal (although he got a gift against Martinez) but this one takes the cake. For some reason, everyone despises him. I know that he would have much rather get knocked out then lose the way he did. He probably still would have lost however at least he would have been given a chance to win and gone out fighting....

David, one of your better articles, "defffility" as a late commentator would have said. Without actually saying so you exposed the fact that a large proportion of posters are little better than cretins. Some of the drek they send in is dreadful, not to mention obscene. They abuse everyone. Just recall how they tried to destroy Vitali Klitschko, one of the great modern champions, and may have been a factor in his deciding to retire. (Just my opinion)
As for "deliberately jumping out of the ring from fear", do you remember in the Hopkins -Robert Allen fight where little Mills Lane, the ref, accidentally pushed
6' 1" Hopkins out of the ring in the 4th rd, causing an NC.??
The same should have been ajudicated for the Cintron-Williams situation.

i get where this columnist is coming from, i really do, but i have two issues with what he wrote...
1) whether cintron dived through the ropes or not is one thing, but the guy lay motionless for ten minutes because he was winded. i honestly don't think this columnist has ever been winded. are we never supposed to question athletes? this is not the same as the dirrell/abraham ****, or the pacroid nonsense. people who say that cintron milked it have plain evidence to support the theory. if he was winded then get up and give the fans the fight they paid for. he was WINDED ffs! that is nothing. if you're ok you get up and get in the ring. cintron has no-one to blame for the fans doubting him but himself. im sorry mr columnist but you have that aspect of your column way wrong...
2) when you become a drug cheat, it doesnt matter how nice a guy you are, you are forever subject to scepticism. if you are a drug cheat like shane mosley you will always be questioned in this regard. he has to deal with it. im sorry mr columnist but teddy atlas is perfectly entitled to question a fighter that has corrupted the sport of boxing by taking drugs. whose side are u on here? a drug cheat, or a man who wants to clean up the sport? you seriously need to rethink this issue.
other than those two points i agree bwith what you have said. there is far too much assuming going on these days. HOWEVER, particularly with mosley, there is no assuming involved. mosley is and always will be guilty and he has to live with that. to his credit he does live with it and has shown remorse. why cant u live with it mr columnist?
as for cintron? please... the vast majority trust what their eyes told them on saturday night; there was no injury, just a guy looking for an easy night's pay. can i say for 100% certain that he was faking? yes i can, because being winded would never stop me from getting up and fighting after a ten minute break. would it stop you?Last edited by dcull111; 05-10-2010, 02:10 AM.

He brings up good points. People have always too readily believed accusations with nothing backing them up, this forum is a perfect example of it.

This article makes me somewhat happy in that I never fell into most of those horrid arguments that people in BS love to live off of. I'll admit I'm guilty of saying Cintron wanted a way out only cause I've always thought he was mentally unstable fighter. But I never argued about how he landed and who caused what to make him fly outta there. I honestly didn't care about that part. I just thought Cintron's always been in awkward fights and when the going gets tough, he doesn't get going.
