Oscar was VERY weak around the body, that's how he lost to Trinidad and to Mosley 2 by fading in the last half under a heavy body attack- 2 of his most important fights.

Have you never noticed his special "chest protector", and all the comments about it over the years. He got away with a lot.

It's would be fireworks. A very close bout for 9 rounds and then Oscar TKO's Cotto with the Vargas flurry.

The good fighters that Cotto beat gave size up to him with the exception of Mosley and I'm still not sure why Shane looked so bad in that fight. I don 't think some people realize how much bigger overall Oscar would be than Cotto. He's Margarito's size but can actually work behind a jab, something that would kill Cotto because of the reach and lack of power to get Oscar's respect. Both are fundmentally sound, but everything Cotto does, Oscar does better and faster lol
The only version of Oscar that Cotto beats IMO is the one Pac beat.
Cotto would look like Mayorga against the one that fought Floyd.

I think Oscar would take this one by UD.

Cotto didn't start gassing til after the Margarito fight, and I think he would simply out box DLH to a decision just like he did with Mosley. Sure, DLH was taller but so was Marg's and the reach didn't really even matter during that fight. But as Oscar admitted to Larry Merchant, he said boxing bothers him and Cotto would simply mix that in with his attack as he did vs Mosley.

The people saying oscar was overrated are crazy especially if you are trying to hint that cotto was prime for prime better that is just laughable.

At 154 in 2006 Oscar beats Cotto. A close fight but Oscar's defense was great against floyd. His jab is better, his hook is better than cottos and cotto never even fought at that weight.

Prime for Prime? At 140 or 147 Oscar stops Cotto. Cotto was rocked by Torres, young DLH with his speed, jab and hook would stop Cotto. And what could Cotto do if they get trading? Oscar's chin is as solid as they get.
