He was young. I don't expect him to be as fast, agile, etc. as he was then with the combination of age, weight increase and even activity level.

With Floyd, he is the smartest in the game and is the most technically sound boxer out there still. So it's not going to matter most of the time. But sometimes fighters slow just enough to start getting caught. Or don't throw enough to wear fights start getting closer. But again, Floyd fights in a way that allows him to continue to set the pace by stopping his opponents offense by making them think twice to attack him because he can counter them either by punching first as soon as he sees a flinch of intent on their part or just catch them coming in off the attack when they miss.

compare hand and foot speed in Baldomir fight vs now.

That's when his decline started....he looked slower against ODLH, Hatton and JMM.

I've always thought if you put the Gatti version of Floyd up against Hatton; Hatton would have ended up like Gatti in that fight.

It's also why I thought Hatton didn't accept to fight Floyd at the time. As well as why he waited to when he saw Floyd decline just enough, he grew some balls and decided he could fight him. Hatton fought him right after he saw Oscar fight him.

his most complex combination was against gatti in round 6 of their fight----he can put together combos fast or slower and still land at will-----he's not in his peak form anymore---and hasn't been since he left 140----this i've known for years---but his mind is so strong, it doesn't matter----he's still dominating fighters----for a guy who doesn't throw as much combos as he used to---he still wins mostly ever round in dominating fashion---that's how great he is----he just dogged out shane and won at best 11 rounds, and lost at best 2 rounds against the ww champion in his 2nd fight back after almost 2 years off and 8 months off since his first back----he's that good-----he can still throw combos when he feels it's right---nobody can out-think this kid in the ring----combos or not----he'll still dominate you---easily---
