    Steven Luevano, Great Fight Tonight!

Any of you happen to catch this fight tonight? It was on a spanish channel, chan 25 or something,Steven Luevano vs Genaro Trazancos,Im glad i tuned in(mostly out of boredom)But Have any of you seen this guy fight? He can move well, throws at great angles works the jab, keeps a good level of aggression ,works great on the inside, throws combos,THE WORKS, I dont wanna give him too much praise cause its only the first time i saw this guy fight, but seeing him works those angles angles reminded of me of watching Margarito tear at Cintron working from top to bottom, definetly someone to keep your eye on,this guys just waiting to break out into the mainstream.

Sidenote,he was actually one of the guys who sparred with morales in preparation for the paquiao fight along with hard hitting Edwin Valero,as of now his current record stands at: W 28 (14 ko's) | L 0 | D 0 | Total 28

So now i know SOMEBODY has to have seen dude fight before, has he always looked this sharp?

heres his boxrec link btw http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=046968

just saw this article regarding this fight

"PHOENIX (AP) - Steven Luevano knocked out Mexican journeyman Genaro Trazancos at 1:40 of the fifth round to win the WBC Continental Americas interim featherweight title Friday night. Luevano (28-0, 14 knockouts) will hold the 126-pound title outright after Rocky Juarez vacates it next month. Juarez, the WBC's top-ranked contender, will wear his minor belt into the ring when he meets WBC champion Injin Chi for the title in Temecula, Calif., on July 15, but has agreed to give it up the next day.

Luevano, ranked as a top-10 contender by all four major sanctioning organizations, wasn't overwhelmed by his first professional belt.

"I'm happy with my performance, and hopefully I guess there'll be better things down the road," the 22-year-old Californian said.

Top Rank and new trainer Don House want Luevano to drop into the junior featherweight class, where he is expected to have a world title fight later this year.

"They're saying that it'll be a better idea for me to go down to 122, because I'll be a lot stronger and taller than everybody else in that weight," Luevano said.

He carried the fight to his opponent from the start, and the pounding showed up in the second, when the ropes kept Trazancos from falling after Luevano tagged him with a left.

In the third, Trazancos went down after getting hit with a right hook, and had blood over his left eye at the end.

Luevano ended the fight with a left cross after Trazancos moved away from a right jab. "

    Re: Luevano in Phoenix

I went to that fight this evning. Luvano did look good- studied his opponent then blasted him- but, you know, why wasn't he fighting a live opponent? Or, at least, couldn't they have had an opponent from the start, being a title fight and all. The best fighter on the card got cancelle; Rafael Valenzuela-write that name down- had his opponent fail the medical test just before fight time. Really? The doctor does the tests right before the fight? Since when- since apopular local fighter was on the bill of a card that didn't draw well, so why let it be known before each and every sale is milked from his name? Personally I'd have sat home had i known up front

Yeah admitedly he wasnt fighting a top opponent, but he also isnt very popular so its understandable(also because neither of them really held the title did they? more of an elimination for a soon to be vacated belt to my understanding),I mean look at opponents even people like zab judah have fought recently(not to mention the majority of the HW division :P ),so thats forgivable i guess,Really looking forward to seeing him fight top contenders at whatever weight he chooses to stay at though. Also thanks for the tip on the other fighter, will be looking out,was his fight going to be televised?.
