Devon is a 2-title champion and they need to pay his opponent right. If you want an up and comer to take a chance at setting his career back 2 or 3 years, then he should at least get compensated for it. Offering guys chump change to take on a 2 title champion isn't going to fly.
No it's not linear, but it's one step closer, and an absolute must in order for there to be a lineal champ at 140. I like how they keep gunning for Tim, but I hope they don't sit stagnant waiting on that particular fight.

I don't think he Dariuz would have won but I didn't think Tarver would have either.

Comparing that 168 pound tub of lard Toney who was ridiculously weight drained is a very poor example. Using Ruiz as an example of winning only deletes your credibility my friend. Worst champ ever.
lol James Toney a fat tub of lard, lets not make excuses beyond the obvious. He was a young man back then and it wasn't Roy's fought James didn't take his training serious. As far a John Ruiz fight your right he was the worst HW Champion but it still doesn't mean Roy's victory wasn't a major accomplishment. Their was a 35lb weight advantage for Ruiz and then almost immediately Roy was able to transform back to 175, 18 pounds of pure muscle win his titles back and that where the story should ended. Now what is Roy's fault is not calling out Dariuz or Joe Calzaghe while having a HBO contract that basically says you can fight whoever you want. People don't realize that Roy was pimped for not having a promoter and definately having those 2 names under his belt while in his prime would have been an outstanding achievement instead we have to live with the fact he got his ass beat as an old man lol tough love but the truth.

It seems like that is how fights get made and it wouldn't be the lineal unless some1 is able to knock off Maidana, bc he was robbed IMO against Andriy kotelnik, he threw 1200 punches and still lost just looking at Andriy Kotelniks face tells the story but Maidana was in the champions backyard.

Toney had to lose like 45 pounds for the fight, he was not that strong. It is not an excuse it is a fact, dude ate to much and it caused problems, if he would have fought the Toney that was still hungry it would have been a very difficult fight, I still think RJJ would have won but again you never know.

Winning a HW title against Ruiz is not an accomplishment to me. It would be easy for anyone fast to beat Ruiz, just combos on the inside so he couldn't hug. Ruiz wasn't a strong fighter he just would throw two and cover up. He was easy to embarrass, for any athletic fighter.

The promoters, for some reason, like to sit back and relax before making the better fights and blame it on build up. I don't understand why two fighters, who don't have a dance partner, and in the same division, can't fight each other.

HBO really should have thought to do this. 140 is loaded and a tournament to crown the best fighter would be so perfect.

My money would be on Devon Alexander to take it.
