Ive heard many old school fighters and fight fans say that Eddie Futch was the greatest tactician and trainer that ever lived..They said he was great at coming up with strategies to beat anybody.. I saw this firsthand when he helped an average fighter Montell Griffin frustrate and counter the **** out of RJ.. Ive heard many say Abgelo Dundee was very overrated, he was the equivilant of Phil Jackson in that Ali was his Michael Jordan.. What say you??
Greatest trainers in the history of boxing?

Angelo Dundeed was over-rated in my opinion, he learnt everything he knew from the great Charlie Goldman.
I would say that Cus D'Amato was the best, Charlie Goldman also deserves a mention and ofcourse Manny Steward. I would have those guys ahead of Futch and Dundee.
1. D'Amato
2. Goldman
3. Steward -
You just can't take away from Dundee after he was in Ali and Leonard's corner.
Maybe not the best ever (Futch gets my vote), but certianly an all time great.Comment

People say the same thing about Ali.
He started working with Leonard and Ali when they were very young. He shouldn't be faulted that they turned out to be all time greats. He should be commended.Comment

This brings up another thing that Im curious about.. In all sports boxing included.. It always occurs that the best coaches by far are the ones who themselves as players/fighters were average to a little above average at best.. How come superstar fighters and players never turn into superstar coaches?Comment
