He was getting battered in that ring. By a bigger guy. Donaire is a bigger guy. Faster, stronger. I don't see it. Montiel has a couple good wins in a row and all of a sudden he's mexico's best fighter? Sorry not buying. Donaire by TKO.

Oh and this video isn't ancient history, it's from September.

i like montiel, been a fan for a good while now. i don't think that he's is going to beat donaire, whom i'm a fan of too, but, i think he will make a good account for himself, and it's not too far off to think that he does have a chance, might be a bit of a long shot.
montiel hasn't looked all that sharp in 2 out of his last 3 fights, but i'm sure he'll be prepared for donaire. hasegawa i had winning 2-1 before the ko, and before the ko it was looking like hasegawa was going to put on a workman like beating on montiel, so taking that into consideration, donaire is most likely going to do the same, just like you said, with more fire power, i just don't like writing off a tough fighter that i like, so easily.

at the end of the hoopla i see donaire winning...........montiel will be ready to fight.

I always favored Donaire over Montiel except I thought Donaire would UD him. The thing is Montiel is very streaky. He has the ability to beat anyone but at the same time he has came out and looked very average and subpar. Calling a Montiel fight has to be one of the hardest picks to make in boxing because you never know which version will show up.

montiel is on his way to past prime status. he was a beast in his prime. donaire is grossly overrated all based on a win vs vic darchinyan who might not even sniff the hall of fame.

if donaire is not careful montiel could khtfo. montiel is battle tested, seasoned, powerful & cannot be taken lightly.

I'm not saying take him lightly, I just don't see much of a chance at all against the bigger more talented Donaire. I guess theres always that punchers chance but it seems so small in this fight.
