Lennox officially retired in February 2004...

... that's 16 MONTHS and we still haven't seen any kind of unification bout.

To be fair, Vitali and Brewster only got their respective belts 14 months ago, but how long are we going to have to wait before any of the main men take on anything approaching another belt holder or a genuine challenge?

Granted, all King's boys have taken on a faded Golota, and Ruiz lost (and regained) his title against Toney, but that's about it. Unless you're counting a shot Holyfield. While it's tempting to think of Vitali being the real man of the division - and I must admit, I do... - he's got the worst defending record of the lot so far.

I know it's all down to contracts and promoters and so on, but if they all keep playing safe, this will be the era of the most squandered opportunities. There's precious little talent in the division as it is, without this.

after vitali beats his mandatory in rahman or barret i have a good feeling we will finally get our first unification between eihter vitali and brewster but if brewsetr fights his mandatory, vitali ruiz is always possible

get out of dreamland and come back to reality. 3 of the 4 heavyweight champions are owned by Con King and king is gonna want the unified HW champ to be one of his. that means that this unification is not about byrd vs ruiz or VK vs brewster, its really VK vs King. king doesnt want to put any of his fighters against klitschko. as long as king's in the picture, we wont have a unification for a LONG time.
