Do networks sell "official" DVDs of fights on their networks?

When Avatar came out, we went to the theater to see it (live fight). Once it was done, it came out for anyone to view (DVD). Does this simple process happen when it comes to HBO, Showtime and ESPN fights?

I've downloaded like everybody, but sometimes there are just those special fights where you'd like to have "the real thing" on DVD. The best quality, some special features, packaging, etc.

If anyone knows, please let me know.

    Thanks

Nope. Once again, boxing loves shooting itself in the foot. There has to be a market for this sort of stuff. Definitely money to be made. If you go to best buy to purchase anything boxing you won't find anything other than possibly an Ali's greatest hits. Which is great but boxing fans deserve a little more. However they will have every single UFC and even random cage fighting. But back to your point, no they don't even offer it online. Not Official showtime or Hbo. But you can get compilations on dvd.

I remember years ago seeing a DVD of the Acelino Freitas-Diego Corrales fight on Amazon.com that looked to have been released by Showtime. Not sure what the deal was with it, but it's no longer listed on the site.

Anyway, last Friday Richard Schaefer sat in on Dan Rafael's chat. This was a question someone asked him...

Would Golden Boy ever sell DVDs or expand their brand into other marketing stuff?

          Dan Rafael (3:00 PM)

He said they are working on that and that you can expect to see DVDs of their library of fights in the next three months (Breaking news?) He said they are also in discussion with a major retailer to introduce a GB clothing line. Good question.

you can download the fights live on the video trading block. Personally i just want to see the two fighters fight. i dont really care for that other stuff.

It's probably better for us (the fans) that they don't sell official DVDs. If they start selling official DVDs they might crack down on the video trading blocks. Like someone else said, you can buy pretty much every UFC on DVD but the flip side is it's hard to download them since the company that owns the UFC spends a lot of time finding and shutting down download sites.
