floyd doesn't want his son to fight an ordinary southpaw how much more to an ATG southpaw, now i understand why floyd do this ost test.

With Sr. comments he's just making his son look bad, floyd sr is slowly revealing that the OST test is just for ducking. nyahhahaha

Yeah, I could see him outsmarting Martinez. One thing about it, I don’t want anybody having an edge over my son because that’s my son, but I never have liked my son fighting southpaws. It’s not that he can’t beat them, because he beat all of them, his record reflects that, but I don’t like my son fighting southpaws. My son fought two southpaws that I know of. He fought one early in his career, pretty close before he got the title and he got cut pretty bad over the eye. Then when he fought Chop Chop Corley, Chop Chop Corley caught him off guard and hit him a couple of times in one fight. Like I said, it’s not that he can’t win because he has won, but I will just say a lot of guys power still come from a different angle and a different size and he’s not a great big guy. There’s no question in my mind that I got the strategy to train my son to offset a lot of this stuff, but I just don’t like him fighting southpaws because stuff comes from a different angle.”

So this is one reason why the fight can't be made.

You are absolutely right. If you go back to the summer of 2009, Mayweather never mentioned steroids, that talk didnt occur until he reunited with his Dad. His dad is a negative influence and he is the biggest obstacle on the Mayweather side of things thats holding this fight back.

On the Pacquiao side, its Bob Arum thats keeping the fight from happening. He hates Floyds guts, and just giving floyd the chance to beat his top fighter, is not worth the risk.

Basically you have two fathers who dont want to see their "sons" get beat.

has this interview been confirmed? what's the source?

It makes sense that he doesn't want his son fighting Southpaws. The southpaw angles completely eliminate the use of the shoulder roll and Philly shell defense.
Against Southpaws, orthodox fighters can't use the roll since the power punches comes from the opposite angle of the roll.

Also, it makes Floyd's best punch...the straight-right counter...harder to land...since lefty's usually end up away from the Right-hand of the orthodox fighter.

But Pac has been a victim of counter punching his whole career it seems.

I'm a huge fan of Manny, but Floyd has just shown everyone exactly how superior his skills are.
But Manny's 31 yrs old, Mosley was about 50 on Sat night.

Floyd still whooped Southpaw's asses even if they gave him a tough time.

Not only does the power come front different angles against soutpaws compared to orthodox, but Pacquiao uses 10x more angles than the average southpaw on top of it.

People say Floyd's style is a nightmare for Pac, but Pac's style is a nightmare for Floyd. His dad knows it.

This is the real reason they keep making up excuses for the Pac fight falling through.
