    Winky wright to retire?

    By G. Leon

After hearing some rumblings that future hall of famer Winky Wright is on verge of retirement, **********.com reached out the Florida native and pressed the matter. While Wright is unwilling to concede a "official" retirement as of now, he made it clear that he will not return to the ring for insignificant fights pr tune-ups. He cites difficulty to be fully motivated for lesser opponents as his primary reason for the decision. If we've seen the last of Ronald Wright in a boxing ring, we'll certainly see in him Canastota in the near future. Wright's career peaked in when he twice defeated Shane Mosley, (the first win unified the division) and easily outpointed Felix Trinidad. Wright lost his last two fights, a close decision to Bernard Hopkins and a drubbing at the hands of Paul Williams following an industry imposed two year layoff.

he was my fav of this era, but i think its time he retires. no1 for him to fight. i dnt want him gettin battered. its a shame he wasted his prime finding opponents when everyone, like rjj, refused to fight him.

I can honestly say that I don't think a whole lot of people will miss him.

I can barely remember his last big win. Either he should get busy and serious and active or retire. After you lose a fight or two you just can't sit around and wait for a big fight. It ruins fighters.

He's been on the verge of retirement for ages now, hasn't had a really meaningful fight since before Hopkins as he's clearly past prime.

from the articles Ive read he is pretty good with his money. Hes already established his legacy and none of the big names will want to fight him because he isnt marketable at this point and there is always that chance he shows up in old form. But today I think he would loose bad to martinez and pavlik while in his prime he would have beat them easy.

Hes what 38 or somewhere around there and he doesnt need the money, I say he should retire.
