Floyd Mayweather has said he could be tempted to step up to light-middleweight to fight Sergio Martinez instead of taking on Manny Pacquiao.

I'll be surprised if Mayweather takes this fight before even re-entering negotiations with Pacquiao (I doubt it). Martinez is a bigger, stronger version of Pacquiao with less output, but he's the fastest Jr. Middleweight out right now.

Too big of a risk for him to take for half of the money he'd get for a Pacquiao fight.

I have to say, if Mayweather ever steps up to Martinez; that is one hell of a statement. Not only is Martinez much bigger but he is on hell of a boxer as well. This would be a tactical showdown...a Mayweather win should catapult him higher up in the all time greats rankings.
